Privacy policy
Information under Article 13 of the General Data Protection Regulation.
In short: Anda Browser has no account and sends no usage data to us. This website sets no cookies. The details are below, first for the browser, then for the website.
The browser
What stays on your device
Bookmarks, history, site icons, search terms, shortcuts, saved passwords, cookies and site data, downloads and settings are stored in the browser profile on your device. We do not see them and have no copy. On Android, this data is excluded from Android's app backups, and uninstalling the app removes it, except the files you downloaded. On Windows and Linux the profile is a separate folder; the help pages say where it is and how to remove it.
What we do not collect
There is no account and no sign-in. The browser does not send usage statistics or telemetry to us, and it does not create an advertising identifier.
Connections the browser makes on its own
Besides the pages you open, the browser makes these connections on its own. These Firefox background services are switched off in Anda Browser: telemetry, automatic crash reporting, studies and experiments, the push service, captive-portal detection, the default-browser agent and region updates.
- Search: what you type into the search field goes to the search engine you chose. Suggestions while typing are off by default; on Android you can turn them on.
- Weather: only if you choose a place for the start page. The browser then asks MET Norway (api.met.no) for the forecast, sending the place's coordinates rounded to four decimals and the browser's name and version, without cookies. It never uses GPS or your IP address to guess your location; the place search works from a built-in list.
- Protection against dangerous sites: Firefox's Safe Browsing is on, as in Firefox; it fetches its lists from Google's service. On Android you can switch it off in the settings.
- Certificate checks: whether a website's certificate has been revoked is checked as in Firefox (OCSP, CRLite), and the add-on blocklist is updated as in Firefox.
- Translation: pages are translated on your device. The language models are downloaded from Mozilla when you first use translation; on Android the list of languages comes from Mozilla as well.
- Site icons: the start page fetches the icon (favicon) of your bookmarks and shortcuts from the sites themselves. Not in a private window.
- Encrypted DNS (DNS over HTTPS) is off by default. If you turn it on, your DNS queries go to the provider you pick.
- Partner widgets (Android, off by default): if you switch them on, the start page fetches Wikipedia's featured article of the day and the Metropolitan Museum's object of the day. Each source is asked at most once a day, and only while the normal start page is visible; only the Met card loads an image. The provider sees your IP address, the content language and the time of the request; no browsing history, bookmarks, identifiers or click statistics are sent. The latest content, including the Met image, stays on your device until newer content arrives; clearing the cache or site data removes it. When they are off, or in a private tab, nothing is requested.
- Wallpapers: when you choose a wallpaper, the browser downloads the image from andabrowser.com. The request is served by the hosting provider, which sees your IP address and the time of the request to do so; we keep no log of it.
- AI answer engines: if you choose one, your question goes to that provider's page in the address when you send it, like any search.
- Voice search (Android): it uses your phone's speech recognition service; what you say is processed by that service, not by Anda Browser, and the browser does not record audio.
- Not happening: no update check (you update by hand from this site), no network update of the ad blocker list (it is built in and changes with app releases), no usage data to us.
Private window
A private window or tab does not save history, search terms or an open-tabs snapshot. Cookies from private tabs are deleted when you close the last one (Android), and the start page neither records frequent sites nor fetches icons. It does not make you anonymous: the websites you visit, your network and your internet provider can still see your activity.
On Android, the Lock feature can disable private browsing entirely behind a master password, for example on a child's device.
Installing from Google Play
If you install Anda Browser from Google Play (coming soon), Google's own terms and Google Play Protect apply to the download and installation. That processing is Google's, not ours.

Server logs
To deliver a page, the hosting provider processes your IP address and the time of the request. We do not receive these request logs and keep none ourselves; the legal basis for the provider's processing is the legitimate interest in delivering the website securely (Article 6 (1) (f) GDPR). How long the provider keeps this data is described in Render's privacy policy.
